The Museum was founded after 1865 and it gathered collections and documents of typical Carlsbad crafts. Contemporary collections include especially applied art (tin, glass, china, furniture), ethnology (furniture, textile, tools and implements), art handicrafts (pieces by Carlsbad gunsmiths and thermal-tuff-cutters), documents concerning economic and social life of the town (e.g. collection of targets and shooting trophies of once-famous shooting group). There are also numerous documents of bath history and natural science collections. Important collections of regional graphics, sculptures and pictures are supplemented by a library containing 14,000 volumes. The museum is an information centre for documentation of the Carlsbad bath industry and landmarks. Administration of the Museum, specialised sites, library and administration of expositions in Jáchymov, Horní Blatná and _lutice are situated in the building on the Castle Hill (Zámecký vrch).
