The Prague Castle - the residence of Czech dukes and kings from the end of the 9th century, has been evolving for the past eleven centuries. Currently, it is the seat of the president of the Czech Republic and plays host to state events, concerts and exhibitions.

The Story of Prague Castle. A unique project presenting the history of Prague Castle. Showcasing models of the castle during the various stages of development, as well as numerous items from the castle`

The Picture Gallery showcases works by famous European renaissance and baroque painters which are arranged by individual regional schools of art. Including works by Tizian, Tintoretto, Rubens, Hans von Achen, Spranger, Veronese, Cranach, Holbein, etc. Czech art is represented in works by Kupecky and Brandl.

17 June - 11 Sept. Disegni a coloriti. Collecting Italian art in the Czech lands dates back to the times of emperor Rudolf. The Prague collection contains the Holy Family drawing which is currently located in the Brno Moravian Gallery`

s collections. The emperor`

s interest in Italian drawing inspired other collectors, including the Olomouc bishop Karl Liechtenstein-Castelcorn and Arnold Skutezky. Exhibition showcasing selected 16th and early 17th century Venetian drawings from the Czech Republic`

Theresian Wing of the Old Royal Palace

Jan Hus 1415 - 2005. Exhibition introducing this extraordinary figure of Czech history and thought, whose influence extends beyond the borders of the Czech lands and who stimulated the European reformation. Also, the oratorio entitled Master Jan Hus, composed by Richard Pachman combining medieval music and some of Hus`

texts will be presented for the first time. The premiere will take place on 5 July at the Old Town Square, after which it will move on to the front entrance to the Theresian Wing (1 July - 25 Sept.).



St. Vitus, Wenceslas and Adalbert Cathedral diagonal nave

Admission free.

Exhibition: Cathedral under the scaffold. Every year, a part of the cathedral gets covered with scaffoldings from spring to fall to the dismay of many photographers. The exhibition introduces the process of reconstruction directly in the cathedral`

The Works of Alfons Mucha. Exhibition of works from the acclaimed Czech artist Alfons Mucha (1860 - 1939), the most well known artist of all the Art Nouveau founders. It includes a large selection of his works on loan from the Mucha Foundation, consisting of lithographs, oil paintings, drawings, pastels, sculptures, photographs and personal items. It provides a unique glance into the world of the author of posters for Sarah Berhardt, the legendary Parisian actress from the late 19th century.
